Life is often complicated by responsibilities and duties, allowing little time for enjoyment. Certainly, working hard to make extra money is a good thing, but that additional income is all too often not put to good use. Indulging in some of life’s most luxurious activities is a great way to enjoy a fulfilling existence. Surprisingly, some of these activities are not as expensive as they may first appear, and certain websites can offer great vacation deals and travel tips. Here are 8 luxurious activities that are worth experiencing during a lifetime:

Get Pampered at a Spa

Melt away the stress of the daily grind by indulging in a soothing spa treatment. Treatment options may include facials, mud baths, massage therapy and aroma therapy. Most spa sessions do not take a large portion of the day to complete, so it is easy to fit in to even the most hectic of all schedules.

Play Golf

Many luxurious golf courses offer several acres of lush playing grounds in a tranquil setting. The manicured lawns and picturesque backdrops are a stunning addition to the experience. Many courses are bordered by lakes or oceans and offer spectacular views. Most clubhouses on these golf courses allow guests to relax after a hard game and offer an impressive selection of food and beverage options.

Take a Cruise

Explore the vast oceans of the world by taking a luxurious cruise. These regal cruise ships offer some of the finest amenities. Passengers can enjoy shopping, fine dining and can even see an amazing show while onboard. These vessels also dock at exotic ports, providing the perfect chance to explore some of the world’s most intriguing locations.

Skiing

A trip to a prestigious ski resort provides the perfect skiing experience. Take a ski lift up a mountain and enjoy a fun day at the slopes. Private instructors are available for hire to assist the novice skier. These fabulous resorts are known for their spectacular amenities and comfortable settings. Most resorts offer private cabins for rent, or guests may choose to stay in a quality hotel.

African Safari

Experience the wonders of nature by taking a safari through the rural lands of Africa. The plains and jungles provide an ideal atmosphere for observing the amazing wildlife. Lions, giraffes, elephants and exotic species of birds offer the perfect photo opportunities. These safaris also give a glimpse into the rural culture and tribal communities of the African people. Reading helpful travel tips before taking a safari is a great way to ensure an optimal experience.

Fine Dining

Premium cuisines can be sampled by dining in some of the finest restaurants in the world. Superlative specialties, such as escargot, caviar and sushi, are perfect selections for a memorable dining experience. Novelty wines and other beverages can also be sampled to satisfy a palate. For a more intimate dining experience, consider hiring a private chef to prepare these delicacies.

Shopping

The finest shopping districts in the world offer the greatest selections of luxury brands. Famous shopping districts, such as Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills or Fifth Avenue in New York City, are the perfect places to find the top name brand merchandise. Most of the shops located in these prestigious shopping districts are known for their outstanding customer service and commitment to quality. Shoppers who make extra money and have disposable incomes will certainly be able to put it to good use when purchasing items at these shops.

Exercise with a Celebrity Trainer

Certain fitness instructors train some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. These trainers can also be booked for private one on one sessions or for small groups. Activities may include yoga, Pilates, weight training or cardio. These instructors may even demonstrate a workout regimen that they specifically formulated for one of their celebrity clients.

The luxuries of life should be enjoyed to the fullest. Partaking in these types of activities can comfort the mind and body while reducing stress and fatigue. These luxurious activities should be experienced at least once during a lifetime.

There comes a day in every work environment when it’s, well, payback time. Maybe the day has arrived to get back at the guy who stole the wheels off your office chair, or even the score with the woman who burns popcorn every afternoon in the microwave. Or, maybe everyone just needs a good laugh.

You, with your vast computer know-how and the Javascript snippets presented here, are just the person to “get ‘er done!”

You don’t need to be a programmer to pull these off. Experiment with them in your own browser in the privacy of your own office cubicle to see how they work. When the time comes to stage your office prank you might need a wing man, but there’s a good chance you can fly solo and under the radar.

Note that they may not work in every browser, so make sure you’ve taken enough successful test runs to be sure your pranks will come off without a hitch. Paste each of these blocks of code into the browser address bar and hit return. Then stand back and watch the hilarity.

1. Java Jive.
Jive is one of those crazy dances that have couples bouncing all around the dance floor. You can pretty much accomplish the same thing with this block of code. Watch for a coworker to leave his or her cubicle. You’ll need to have some idea how long your victim, I mean coworker, will be away from the targeted computer. Paste this code into the browser:

javascript:function Shw(n) {if (self.moveBy) {for (i = 35; i > 0; i–) {for (j = n; j > 0; j–) {self.moveBy(1,i);self.moveBy(i,0);self.moveBy(0,-i);self.moveBy(-i,0); } } }} Shw(6)-accident

Timing is everything here and to make your coworker’s window dance around the desktop for longer, change “35″ to a larger value. If you want the dance to last for a minute, make the value 600. Also, this might not work in tabbed browser windows.

2. 15 Minutes of Flame, I mean Fame.
With this Javascript you can make any webpage editable. Imagine that the person in the next cubicle spends half the day scanning the Huffington Post or the Drudge Report. At the right moment, you can paste this code into the target browser and then edit any text on the page. Put your friend’s name up in lights, or at least into some embarrassing webpage headlines.

javascript:document.body.contentEditable=’true’; document.designMode=’on’; void 0

Of course, you can also do this in your browser, immortalize yourself, take a screen shot of the page and then pass it around to all your friends to prove how famous you are.

Your choice.

3. Motion Pictures.
Static jpegs can be beautiful but they’re often boring. That’s why advertisers are using movies so often now. But, how about getting the best of both worlds and make those static jpegs on a webpage do the conga line? With this Javascript code you can turn your victim’s browser window into an undulating ocean of images.

javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.getElementsByTagName(“img”); DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i-DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position=’absolute’; DIS.left=(Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5)+”px”; DIS.top=(Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5)+”px”}R++}setInterval(‘A()’,5); void(0);

These three office pranks should earn you a little cubicle cred. You’ll find more weapons for your practical joke arsenal at NT Hacks, Computer Pranks Central and DotNetBlocks. And, don’t forget to share your triumphs with us. We can all use a good laugh.

The human imagination is a machine of infinite possibilities, and one we know surprisingly little about. Our perceptions of the world around us are influenced by countless stimuli that can alter our thoughts and ideas without our ever being aware of it. We rely upon our senses to define the universe in relative terms that we can understand- bringing into focus an environment that would otherwise overwhelm and beguile our ability to comprehend the world.

Even with decades of advanced study and technology that can detect and record brain patterns, electrical impulses and body processes, there is still a great deal about the human brain that remains a mystery to us. We can explain how the nerves are connected to the brain, and how our senses are transformed from into electrical impulses that produce reactions within our brains resulting in our comprehension of our surroundings. In spite of all of these advances, some aspects of our understanding seem to defy science. Our brains are deftly designed organs capable of incredible feats of reason and creative thought, but they are not infallible. Tricking the human brain into seeing something that isn’t really there involves a great deal of manipulation, either through slight-of-hand or highly advanced science.

Illusion is an art form that runs the gamut from highly complex to stunningly simple. Take, for instance, the popular optical illusions that can be found everywhere from children’s activity books to scientific journals. A few lines on paper, the juxtaposition of light and dark, and the clever arrangement of geometric shapes can leave the viewer second guessing exactly what they’re seeing. Size, depth and color can all be manipulated to appear as other than what they really are simply by placing them a specific way or in contrast to another shape or color. Despite the advanced metrics between the optic nerve and the brain, these simple techniques can confound the sense of sight and affect the perceptions of those that see them.

Illusion can be taken a step further in the form of “magic” and slight-of-hand. This form of trickery often takes advantage of the minute delay in the processing of information and stimuli between the eye and the brain. The manipulation of three dimensional space, combined with clever distraction and artful presentation can allow a talented performer to fool an audience into believing that an object has disappeared or teleported to a new location. Of course, there are outside influences that can affect this kind of illusory experience. In order for “magical” illusion to be effective, the audience must suspend their disbelief long enough to allow the idea of the proposed illusion to sink in. The imagination must be willing to believe that such a feat can and has taken place, otherwise the art and fun of the vision is lost.

Science, on the other hand, has taken the art of illusion to heights that the human imagination only dreamed of in centuries past. The understanding of how light and energy work and interact has led to huge developments in the world of holograms. Once a characteristic of fantastic science fiction, these high-tech images are making ever-more frequent appearances in everyday life. For the time being, much of the technology is still in development, but is advancing rapidly but it isn’t just for geeks and nerds. The basic creation of a hologram centers around the careful projection of light particles, which collide in such a way as to reflect off of one another and appear as a solid image (imagine dust particles caught in a sunbeam). This light is projected at varying wavelengths to produce different colors, creating images that appear to have both depth and mass. This creates a disparity between the senses – the eye sees an apparently three-dimensional object, but there is no touch, sound or smell directly associated with the experience. The brain is fooled into believing that an object is there, when it fact, it is merely a manipulation of light. This same concept can be applied in a different medium in the form of holographic images. Typically two-dimensional, these images use the careful placement of reflective shapes to achieve the appearance of a three-dimensional object when viewed from a certain vantage point. This form of illusion is very popular and is used for everything from fashion to art to advertising.

With the limitless frontier of human imagination, the concept of science and slight-of-hand appear simply to be different sides of the same card.
